If you live in Austin – this beautiful city that we’re so lucky to call home – and you’re starting to feel like you may want to talk to someone about something that’s going on in your life or if you’re noticing that you’re depressed and stressed and anxious about what the future holds for you, then fear not. You’re in luck. Austin is home to so many talented professionals who can help support you however you actually need it.
In Austin, and this is me pulling from my exact healing experience with therapy in the city, you have doctors, psychiatrists, therapists, nutritionists, coaches, guides, leaders, teachers, and healers (legit cool Austinites) who enjoy their Tacodeli and Zilker Park just like you AND they can help support you mentally, emotionally and physically in a very transformative way (root word: transform; like, positively transform your life).
I know it can be scary, but listen: the help and support that you’re wondering about – the kind that genuinely works for you and your life – is real and it is here in typical Austin-fashion, which is to say it is among the world’s best. 🙂
Are you wondering about therapy for the first time? Are you feeling like it’s time to go back to therapy? Are you moving through big emotions like grief and loss and maybe you’re feeling depressed? Do you think medication might help?
No matter where you are right now, the support you need is available. And yes, seeing a therapist or a psychiatrist in itself can be a very scary experience. Opening up and allowing yourself to look at your experiences and your feelings in an honest and intentional way is often a very new experience for many of us as well, so even if you’re considering the brave steps of reaching out and talking to someone and in you’re in Austin, know that are in good hands. You have people around you who can really help you, and I know that they really want to.
I can accurately describe my own healing experience with Austin psychiatrists and Austin therapists, coaches, and more at Presence Wellness, Austin Professional Counseling, Deep Eddy Psychotherapy, and more Austin-area practitioners as strong and warm. Clinical and compassionate. Soft and helpful. And most of all, really cool, normal people.
Which feels great to me personally because it helps remind me that attending to my mental health and my emotional experience isn’t strange or weird or something like I was taught it was growing up, it’s actually a legit no-brainer. Like, no big deal at all, because of course humans should heal and grow their entire lives, including the emotional and mental parts. That’s 100% a normal human experience if there ever was once, and that’s what the evidence shows as well, especially in Austin where these psychiatrists, therapists, and more I’m referring to are genuinely relatable, nice people in addition to their world-class expertise.
SO that’s why I made this list for you. 🙂
Because I know what level of care and support is out there and how transformative it can be for you and your life, and I want to help share that with you anyway that I can. The entire Presence Wellness team does. So without further adieu, here’s 3 reasons you should be excited about reaching out to an Austin therapist or psychiatrist:
- REASON #1 TO BE EXCITED: YOU GET A LIFESTYLE-BASED FOCUS OF GROWTH & HEALING
This way you receive an integrative experience. Your entire lifestyle – your job, your relationships, your body, your diet, your days out on the Greenbelt, your mindset, everything – is considered in exploring your personalized support health and wellness. And this makes sense, right? You don’t want to feel better while in therapy, you want to feel better while you’re living your life – you know, eating tacos at Torchy’s and stuff. This way, we integrate your nutrition, mindfulness, exercise, social support, sleep, gut health, and more into your healing and growth for a truly transformative experience.
- REASON #2 TO BE EXCITED: MEDICINE CAN BE A SUPPORTIVE TOOL, BUT IT’S NOT THE WHOLE ENCHILADA
Medicine is prescribed as a supportive agent, one tool of an array of tools, to support your whole life in ways that are practical and valuable for you. And thus, we aim for a natural, healthy lifestyle that supports your goals in a practical way, which is why we often pair psychiatric prescriptions (for depression, anxiety, etc.) with individual and group therapy where applicable, however similarly, we recognize how in many cases prescription medicines can be extremely valuable at times. We want to help you feel centered and balanced down on South Congress, and that’s why we provide an integrative approach to explore all of the options available for you.
- REASON #3 TO BE EXCITED: PSYCHIATRISTS HAVE COOL AUSTIN FRIENDS WHO DO COOL STUFF
At Presence Wellness for example, Doctors (Psychiatrists) Robin May-Davis and Adrienne Diraddo, a Board-Certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practioner (PMHNP-BC), work alongside Julie Falchuk, Director of Yoga Programs, and John Howard, who teaches meditation classes, just to name a few of the talented therapists, coaches, teachers and doctors who love what they do and love doing it in Austin. And guess what? Everybody learns from each other. Doctors learn from therapists and yogis, and yogis and therapists learn from doctors. And you (our clients) receive a level of support that is as transformative as Austin is amazing.
So what do you think?
Are you excited to connect with an Austin psychiatrist yet? If you are, here’s a good place to start. And if you’re not quite ready yet, I hope you take your time and come on down whenever you’re ready. Like we talked about before, taking those brave steps to creating your healing can be a scary thing. It’s OK to take your time and listen to yourself about what you really need and what’s really best for you and your life.
That said, an amazing level of help and support is available for you right now, right here in Austin. Amazing psychiatrists, experienced therapists, and compassionate teachers of all the right kind are here and they are ready to support you whenever you’re ready. That’s why I made this list! Just in case you or anyone like you in Austin right now really does need some support right now and they’re wondering about what’s really out there.
Because the truth is, especially in Austin, if you are feeling stressed, anxious, or depressed, or if you’re grieving or mourning and would like support through that, or if you’re ready to heal past traumas that you’ve experienced and start creating the life of your dreams, there is genuine reason to be excited once you learn that (1) you’re not alone and (2) how much amazing support there is just waiting for you right now. I hope this was helpful for you. 🙂
